Nations United in Friendship Through Children

The Kootenay Romanian Relief Organization is a registered Canadian Charity, assisting orphans, the elderly and the poor in Romania.

14 children were adopted by families in the West Kootenays, which prompted the formation of our Organization. To date we have re-built the infrastructure of an orphanage; built 3 houses and assisted with work on a children's camp; completed a children's playground; shipped and distributed 11 containers of clothing, bedding and toys which has assisted over 80,000 people, and much more.

We could not do this work without your financial assistance.

Quilts for Romania

The Ladies Quilting Group, who meet and work in the Nelson First Baptist Church every Tuesday, have made over 1000 quilts and pillows for Romania.

Our 11th container of relief will soon be ready to depart for Romania and will contain another 120 quilts for distribution.

Fund Raising

For the past several years, our organization has run the Santa Photo program as well as the gift wrapping table at the Chahko Mika Mall in Nelson.

All funds collected are applied directly to our Romanian relief projects.

Daiane Cherry has run a shuttle service from the parking and camping areas to the main venue area at the Shambhala Music Festival.

The proceeds from the shuttle have been used to complete a soccer pitch and two basketball courts at orphanage #2.

Art Sale — Build a Child a Dream

9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
September 12-13, 2009

Nelson Kiwanis Club and The Kootenay Romanian Relief Organization (KRRO) of Canada are combining their vision and energy to build a soccer field and a basket ball court for a Romanian Orphanage.

On September 12 and 13th [2009], Nelson Kiwanis Club will be holding an art sale in the Extra Foods parking lot. The art reflects mostly local artists with both original work and limited edition prints. We ask that you come by our tent on that weekend and view the art.

Come and share in this opportunity to share with these children and give them something we and our children take for granted. We will have pictures to share of the orphans and their home. We have had much support from the artists and many local businesses and individuals.
